OUT AND ABOUT KINSALE!

John and I woke up after a wonderful night’s sleep, drank some coffee, talked to our host about laundry options, and walked down the hill (mountain) into town.  We both had fallen in love with Kinsale during our brief stay three years ago.  It was wonderful being back to this charming coastal town!

We dropped off some laundry at the local laundromat, and the sweet lady there told us we could pick it up by 3:00PM.  What could be easier?  We walked around town looking for the perfect spot for breakfast and a second cup of coffee!

The Lemon Tree came highly recommended and it looked really good!  So, Lemon Tree it was!

The cafe had a sweet area in the back where we chose to sit.  It was delightful.

Will you take a look at John’s breakfast?  What a feast, (and a pretty one at that)!  John said the taste was even better than it looked!

Meanwhile, Mike was doing their laundry in the parking garage of the local Super Value.  He went early—way before John and I learned that there was another option!  Let’s just say, you haven’t been to Kinsale unless you have experienced laundry day at the Super Value!

So, while we meandered through town and enjoyed breakfast at that sweet little cafe, poor Mike was doing laundry in “HELL”!  (John and I laughed so hard—only because we went through the exact same thing three years ago!)  There were no chairs to sit on, no tables to fold laundry, no place to get a coffee, no NOTHING!  And poor Mike walked there so he didn’t even have a car seat to use!

After breakfast, (while Mike was still doing laundry), John and I met up with our Kinsale tour guide, David.  OMG, he was such a typical Irishman, so jolly and absolutely hysterical!

We followed him around town while listening to his wild historical tales!  It was a fabulous tour!  (We are so sorry, Mike, that you had to miss it.  But laundry does come first!)  And it was a beautiful, warm morning!

After the tour, John and I browsed some shops before meeting up with

a refreshed Patte (who had been drinking coffee in her room all morning) and an exhausted Mike (who had just finished the whole Super Value laundry fiasco)!  We met at Kitty O Se’s for its’ world famous seafood chowder!

John and Mike agreed that it was the BEST EVER!  Patte and I each had a bite and totally agreed!  YUM!

Patte and I went through the many cute shops in town while John and Mike did what John and Mike do best—enjoyed a drink and solved the world’s problems!

We chose Fishy Fishy for dinner, highly recommended for none other than their FISH!  It was a memorable dinner, not so much for the food, but rather, for the multiple (like five or six) Kinsale high school girls who waited on us!  (We’ll never figure that one out!)

Back at the ranch, (John pre-booked a taxi to take us up the mountain this time), we relaxed in the “B’s” living room and enjoyed an after dinner drink (drinkS for the boys).  It had been the perfect day spent in our very favorite coastal town in Ireland!

                                                               Good Night, Kinsale!
