We were up EARLY today since we had an EARLY flight to Dublin, Ireland! Mike had been wrestling with his roots since arriving in Scotland. With the last name of Murry, without an A, research had told him he could be either Scottish or Irish. Since he has wanted NO PART of wearing a kilt and has had NO fondness whatsoever to bagpipe music, he has felt deep inside that he was, indeed, Irish! So when we landed in Dublin he felt like the signs were meant for only him!
We picked up our luggage at baggage claim (that we had to PAY FOR TO CHECK, much to John’s dismay) and had to walk a zillion miles to the Uber pickup lot!
Our Uber driver dropped us off at Ferryman Pub, which looked great but only served drinks and no food. And we were hungry!
So we walked down a block to Dockers Pub and it was high time to say “Slainte”!
John read the check-in directions for our Airbnb and discovered that we would have to walk 15-20 minutes from the Airbnb to pick up the condo key at exactly 3:00PM! We walked, dragging all of our luggage, to a cafe where Patte and I could sit while the boys went to get the key (luggage free). It was about that time that t I realized I didn’t have my purse! (OH NO!). John and Mike decided to head back to the restaurant to look for it while Patte and I did a search on Find My IPhone, only to learn it was a block away! Yikes! We had stopped for a moment to check directions and I had taken my two coats off. Apparently, I left my purse on the ledge streetside. Would you believe, John and Mike came in carrying it! (Whew! Thank goodness for honest Irishmen!)
Our Uber driver told us Metallica was going to be in concert this weekend in Dublin. That explained why (everywhere we looked) we saw people in Metallica garb!
We checked in (at long last) and fell right in love with our view of the River Liffey!
Even though we were all POOPED, (travel days are more exhausting than touring days), we mustered up enough energy to go to the legendary The Temple Bar Pub!
We actually landed a table where we could sit comfortably and drink a brewski while watching all the craziness and listening to the live Irish music playing!
Temple Bar encompassed the entire neighborhood surrounding The Temple Bar Pub. To say it was “colorful” was an understatement!
We decided on a place called Buskers for dinner, and were we glad we did! Nothing could beat eating hot wings while drinking beer and listening to the live music of street performers, while watching the US beat Australia in the World Cup! It was certainly a night to remember!
Mike took this photo at 9:30PM last night. The sun was just setting! It has been light outside (since the start of this trip) until well past 10:00PM!
