Not only were we SUPER excited with our itinerary today, but the sun was STILL shining bright! (Were we lucky or what?) And we had tickets to tour Windsor Castle! (Could it get any better than that?)
At the train station, Michael volunteered to be our personal runner! He returned with refreshments for all! (Thank you, Michael!)
We arrived in the darling town of Windsor and promptly asked a guide, “ Is that the Windsor Castle in back of us?” And it was, indeed!
We walked by the “Crooked House of Windsor” and just had to stop and take a photo or two!
Mike and Patte got chummy with a local policeman and convinced him to pose with them!
We passed by (and went inside) the church that the Royal family attends.
Pubs and restaurants surrounded us—even Prince Harry had one named after him!
The Changing of the Guards occurred promptly at 10:45 and we all got the best seats in the house! (A nice local kindly prepared us!)
It was pretty cool to see the kilts and all the regalia and to hear the bagpipes playing away!
The queue to get inside the castle progressed smoothly and on the way in we all took turns getting our photos taken! (I know, I know! Enough already!)
Sadly, the King was not in Windsor, as he was celebrating his birthday in London instead! (Darn it!)
The castle was absolutely stunning with the blue skies overhead! And the castle tour was good as well (even though Patte and I chose to sit on a bench and enjoy the sunshine while listening to the audio version and looking at pictures)!
Mike took every opportunity to show off his shooting skills.
Patte insisted this guy was made of wax since he didn’t move one iota the entire time we watched him! Until the Change of Guards when he began marching!
We walked by this amazing car while walking by a chapel,
on our way to Two Brewers’ Pub! (One of Eugene Levy’s travel show’s episodes featured him sharing a pint with Prince William there!) So, of course, we just had to go inside to see if Will was there!
Sadly, we learned that Prince William was not in Windsor but, instead, was in London attending his Dad’s birthday party! But the pub was exceptionally cool!
When we came outside, would you believe the wedding (that was being held in the little chapel we had passed) had ended and the bride and groom were outside, ready to be driven away in the waiting Bentley!
We were FAMISHED by this time, and found a spot in the Queen Charlotte, located on the shortest street in Britain, for lunch!
We spent another hour or two walking through various shops and simply enjoying the beautiful afternoon in Windsor!
After navigating the train system once again, (thanks to John and Michael—they made a great team), we arrived in Notting Hill, home of the Julia Robert’s 1999 movie,”Notting Hill”! It was AMAZING, on a Saturday late afternoon, with vendors selling their wares and pubs exploding with boisterous patrons! We loved it!
While John, Mike and Patte looked for a place to have dinner, Michael and I went searching for Will’s (Hugh Grant) book store! (IYKYK) We found it!
Then off we went in search of Will’s iconic apartment’s blue door at 280 Westbourne Park, London! (IYKYK) And we found it!
Meanwhile, John, Mike and Patte did an outstanding job picking out Sun in Splendoor for our dinner venue!

It was located right next door to the cutest aqua shop!
We enjoyed yet another delicious British meal (sadly, our last one in London) at yet another very busy British pub!
Back at our Airbnb, we began a bit of cleaning up and packing up, all while watching the King’s birthday party celebration on TV! (And to think we missed it!) But we did see all the preparations taking place yesterday in London!
What can I say? We enjoyed the PERFECT last day in London (spent in Windsor)! And finally it was time to say,
Good Night, London!
It was a PERFECT DAY!
