OUT AND ABOUT GLASGOW, SCOTLAND!

The boys woke up early and started researching “Things to do in Glasgow on a rainy day”.  Even though the sun was shining bright, the forecast was not!

They decided a Big Bus Tour was a great way to see what the city had to offer (without getting soaked to the bone)!  On our way to the bus stop, we passed by a bicycle storage unit. We had seen them all over London and the four of us agreed that they would be PERFECT in our Pinebrook Community in Florida!

We were thrilled with our dry seats on top of the bus and with the views of the city they provided!  Our tour guide was none other than a Scottish lady—oh no!  Her accent was a bit THICK, however, we all understood SOME of what she said!

She pointed out some really cool street art,

and lots and lots of gorgeous and ANCIENT buildings throughout Glasgow!

Every now and again we would see this bright, iconic Scottish symbol in various settings! 🤣🤣🤣 (Thank you, Michael, for letting us know it was “a thing” here!)

Also “a thing” here were the decorated Scotty statues (Scottish Terriers).  They were adorable but, (so sorry), I was only able to photograph the back end of one!  It seemed these two visiting dogs enjoyed meeting up with it!

This large arch, we learned, was The Clyde Arc, (known locally as the Squinty Bridge), a road bridge that crossed  the River Clyde.

Contrasting the ancient buildings throughout Glasgow were the modern buildings.  Some of them, (oh dear), weren’t exactly what we would call beautiful!  Different, but certainly not beautiful!

Back to the historical masterpieces and street art…

We stopped for lunch at this Italian restaurant (OH NO!  It wasn’t a Scottish pub!) and enjoyed a delicious, non-Scottish lunch!

We all Ubered it to Argyle Street in Finnieston, where Patte and I went out to find the treasures of The Hidden Lane.

The shops were cute, however, we didn’t find anything we couldn’t live without!

Patte and I saw a nail salon right next to where we were to meet the guys, so we slipped in so I could have some, let’s just say, much needed work performed on my nails!  The nail tech was the owner of the salon, was from Iran and spoke Farcie to her employees throughout my appointment.  She told me her entire family was still in Iran and praised America for getting involved.  She was not happy that we had decided to back off.

Meanwhile, John and Mike enjoyed talking with the bartender at The Finnieston Pub.  All in all, it was a great stop for all!

We hopped back on the bus (thank goodness it was literally waiting a block away, as it was raining cats and dogs again) and took it back to the neighborhood where our flat was located.

Before we actually went back to our dry, warm Airbnb, Mike wanted to get a photo by the River Clyde.  (What you are not seeing in this photo are the raindrops falling and the umbrellas we hid for the shot!)  Oh Scotland, we love you, but your weather leaves something to be desired.

Our mission, back at the Airbnb, was to finish up all the consumables we had purchased!  That meant our very own Happy Hour of cheese, pate and crackers, and Scotch Whiskey (for you know who)!  Then off to  Cairns Bar for our very last Scottish meal.

                                                           Good Night, Glasgow!
