WIMBLEDON, WINSTON CHURCHILL’S WAR ROOM, BUCKINGHAM PALACE!

Up early once again and off to the train station with the final destination of WIMBLEDON!  The walk from the train station to Wimbledon was through a delightful town called Southfields.

We arrived and, even though none of us were avid tennis fans, our excitement was real.

Our tour guide was exceptional and soooo enthusiastic and knowledgeable about tennis and Wimbledon!

Preparations were being made with THOUSANDS of plants arriving to be planted and potted and placed all around with the goal of making the grounds look like an English Garden.

Wimbledon’s history was an amazing story; the grounds were absolutely beautiful; and you can bet that the Murry’s and the Diedam’s will be watching the upcoming Wimbledon’ tennis tournaments!

After the tour we ate lunch in the quaint town at yet another English pub with delicious food and then ventured back to the train station!

Michael studied the train app and figured out what train was next to get us to our next destination: WINSTON CHURCHILL’S WAR ROOM!

Before coming to London, Michael asked three people he knew that had been there what their very favorite thing was to see.  They all told him Winston Churchill’s War Room.  But when he Googled it, he said it didn’t look like anything special.  We arrived and went inside, not knowing what to expect.

It was AMAZING!  OMGoodness, what a treasure of information!  If you ever have the chance to go, all five of us recommend it highly!  Have I mentioned that the weather was PERFECTION?  The sky was bright blue and the sun was shining bright!  I just had to take yet another photo of Benny in the sunshine!

Our time in London was nearing an end, so we headed directly to yet another must see: BUCKINGHAM PALACE!  Oh, what a gorgeous day to walk around the palace grounds!  We wanted to go to Whitehall to see the Changing of the Guards, however, we literally ran out of time!

Patte, Mike and Michael headed back to our flat after stopping for dinner.  Oh, and while on the way back, they just so happened to bump into some old friends on Abbey Road.

John and I were there in spirit, as they were old friends of ours as well!

We had taken the train to Chiswick to have drinks with an old boss of John’s and his wife at their beautiful home!  It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day!

                                                                     Good Night, London!
