BRUGES, BELGIUM!

I was the first to wake up this morning (hours before anyone else) and thoroughly enjoyed a cup (or two) of coffee after navigating the zillion steps (44 of the total 56 to be exact) to get to the main floor of this house!

It boggled my mind SO MUCH as to how we could have missed the mention of steps (much less a zillion steps) before booking this Airbnb, that I went back to the listing.  No where were steps mentioned at all EXCEPT for one comment that was buried in all the comments that did mention each of the four bedrooms being on separate floors!

We woke up to sunshine and, according to our weather apps, it looked like the PERFECT day to take the 1.5 hour train ride to Bruges, Belgium.  John and I had stayed in Bruges three years ago and had LOVED it so we couldn’t wait to go back!

The boys thought the train ride was the BEST and before we knew it we were in Bruges!

We enjoyed lunch at one of the cafes on the main square and Jon ordered a beer so big even HE could hardly finish it!  (But he did!)

Jonah loved at the “horsies” outside the cafe, and

August loved every single bite of his strawberry Belgium waffle!

The square was beautiful and bustling with tourists (although these photos don’t really show it) —just the way we love it!

You just can’t go to Bruges without going on a canal ride, so we got in line and proceeded to pass the time by taking a bunch of photos!

Before long we were in a boat riding through the canals!  The big people enjoyed hearing all about the ancient buildings we rode past and the little people enjoyed the ducks and swans and birdies!

After the canal ride we walked up and down the cobblestone streets, purchased some Belgium chocolates,

and browsed the shops, until we could walk no more!  Jonah’s stroller revolted by nearly losing a wheel (Oh my!) but Jon Jon saved the day by running ahead and buying some duck tape (for the win)!  Jonah fell fast asleep (once he knew his stroller was saved)!

Back at our Airbnb we played with “amnals” built little styrofoam creatures, and read a book about insects  while John, Jon, and Jas went out for a drink!

All in all, it was a very good day (thank goodness for duck tape)!  Good Night Belgium!
