GRAND-PLACE (French) OR THE GRODT MARKT (Dutch) IN BRUSSELS!

We woke up and started planning our day after a breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast!

The Diedam boys…every single one of them!

We all decided to head to the center of town, or commonly known as Grand-Place.  As we left, I snapped a photo of our Airbnb.  Tall and thin (straight up from the doorway—the balconies are not ours) equates to steps and more steps!

After a short train ride and walk we arrived in downtown Brussels, close to Grand-Place,

which is made up of Town Hall (Hotel de Ville), a stunning 15th-century Brabantine Gothic building featuring a 96-meter belfry, The King’s House (Madison du Roi / Broodhuis), which houses the Brussels City Museum, and the Guildhalls, ornate 17th-century merchant houses.

After looking at those really old buildings, we took a walk to Jonathan’s coveted destination, a bar called DELIRIUM!

We made John stand in this doorway—he was clueless as to why,

until we showed him the sign he was standing next to!  If you haven’t heard his “pickpocketed in Rome” story, ask him to tell you all about it!

To say Jon was in heaven was an understatement!

Even though it was still morning, we all ordered a drink (showing support for Jon)!

August signed the infamous table at the infamous booth inside the bar.  We told him when he gets older and returns someday he can look for it and remember back when he visited here at five years of age!

Jonah, August and Jonathan held a “Who Wears It Best” contest!  So, who do you think wore it best?

August and Jonah were thrilled to sit at their very own table and say “CHEERS!” with their own bottles…filled with only water, of course!

Next on the must-see list was the infamous Manneken Pi’s. which has become the beloved, cheeky symbol of the city’s independent spirit.  (Oh, the questions August had about that statue! 😂)

We ventured further from the main square and found streets filled with adorable shops and restaurants.

August insisted he needed another waffle for lunch!

Got this adorable father/son photo of Daddy with Jonah…

and Jonathan insisted that I take the not-so-adorable adorable picture of Daddy with Jon Jon!

Jonathan certainly blended in with the locals!

Jonah certainly ate with gusto,

as did his big brother, August!

Here’s a picture I snapped of Chloe with her boys!

Jonathan insisted we take one of me and my boys!

It takes a team to travel with kiddos, especially where trains are deep down in the bowels of the city!

We spent half the day all together and then John, Jonathan and Jason took a rental car to head to SPA for tomorrow’s tour of the Antwerp Formula One race track and Jonathan’s race track Experience!  Chloe and I opted to take the boys for a walk around our Airbnb.

Suddenly the skies got dark, the wind picked up and thunder was booming.  As we raced to get back to the house, the stroller’s wheel fell completely off!  Chloe performed yet another surgery with duck tape and on we ventured!

And just like that, the storm blew over and we were able to eat delicious pasta at a roadside cafe!  Back home again the boys got a little bit of screen time while Chloe performed MAJOR surgery on the stroller wheel!

We read books and played with “amnals” until bedtime!  Tomorrow’s going to be the BEST DAY EVER as Chloe and I navigate the Brussels train system to the Museum of Natural Sciences to see lots and lots of DINOSAURS!

Good Night, Brussels!
