AND WE ARE OFF!

Memories have already begun to be made!  We are sooo fortunate to be able to all travel together!  John and I are soaking up every minute of time with the fam!  Sorry for the inordinate amount of photos…but we want to remember it all!!

The boys, (August and Jonah for clarification, NOT Jon and Jas), did really well during the two hour wait at the airport before our flight!  For further clarification, Jon and Jas did okay as well!

It was finally time to board and John and I just had to smile watching August and Jonah walking on the plane pulling their suitcases!  They were pros!

Jonah loved his big seat on the airplane ride to Chicago!

Uncle Jon was thrilled to be seated in close proximity to Jas, Chloe and his nephews!

Once in Chicago, we had to wait again for our flight to Brussels!  Traveling with little ones is very different from traveling with adults!  But the little boys did great!  August never failed to entertain us!

Jon and Jas enjoyed the benefits of the lounge!  (Poor Chloe did not!)  John and I could only get two passes for those traveling with us, so Chloe opted to stay with the August and Jonah while we took our “boys” to the lounge.  Don’t worry, we snuck out delicious chocolate chip cookies for Chloe and her boys!

At long last it was time to head to Brussels.  Flight time was only 7.5 hours!

John and I upgraded to economy plus, which gave us a bit more space.  I was bummed because I didn’t get to see August or Jonah the entire flight!  But it was reported that August was a rock star and Jonah Bear fell asleep in Chloe’s arms most of the flight.  It would be fair to say that none of us had a perfect night’s sleep! 😜

But we arrived in Brussels!  Excitement took over exhaustion and since we couldn’t get into our Airbnb until 3:00PM,  we dropped our luggage off and roamed around looking for food!  (Except for Jon—he roamed around looking for a beer!)

We found a cafe whose owner assured us that they served a proper breakfast, so in we went and sat down.  Jon was pleased with some of Chloe’s fries and mayo, a local favorite! 😳😳😳

August and Jonah enjoyed their first authentic Belgium waffle,

Chloe, John and Jas enjoyed their breakfasts and I focused on getting caffeine!  All in all is was the perfect first meal in Brussels!  Jonah just loved giving his Jon Jon (spoken with a very deep voice—we don’t know why but it was ADORABLE!) really big hugs!

It wasn’t long after our late breakfast and a stop at a pub for Jonathan’s brewski

that we finally could get into our Airbnb.  Lo and behold, we discovered that our “flat” was filled to the brim with staircases and not a single bedroom was on the main floor!  As a matter of fact, each of the four bedrooms are on a different floor!  John and I have a “No stair” rule when booking Airbnb’s and will sometimes settle on a “few” stairs!  But this was over the top!  After I get some sleep, I promise to count them!

We picked up some groceries and four pizzas (there was only one size—SMALL) for dinner.  I was the first to succumb to bed at 6:30PM.  Jas, Chloe, August and Jonah were next, followed by John who stayed up ( but kept falling asleep) watching a race with Jonathan!  Who knows if and when Jon got to bed!  We’ll find out in the morning!  Good Night Belgium!
